Uniqueness of the F1 (Formula 1) VICE Hardware Wallet - Walletopia (2024)

The VICE Hardware wallet named the "F1" for Formula 1 is an ingenious design, utilizing exciting design elements you would see in the precision crafting of Formula 1 car parts. But is it functional?

(if you want to see all the features and how many cards and cash it can hold, please watch the video)

Today’s review will be on the F1 or Formula One from VICS Hardware. A member of this community tipped me off to this wallet. It is a slim wallet with bands and I use the term band very loosely. It comes packaged in a sturdy black box. The wallet is then wrapped in a foam type material and then put into a plastic bag. There is also a rubber “hustle” wrist band, and a sticker included in the box. This is the F1 which means Formula One. I’m a formula one guy, so I was intrigued when I got this wallet.

The features on the VICE Hardware F1 wallet are pretty simple. It has a card slot in the front, maintained by four swing hinges. Cards go inside that slot and held in place by the tension of the bands pulling backwards against the hinges. On the back, there is an integrated money clip which is magnetized to hold cash down.

I was able to get eight cards and five slips of cash inside in our tests. Cash has to be folded twice but even then Yen and Euro will stick out just a little bit on the top but still fit fine. For a minimalist, five to eight cards would be reasonable. The company says it can hold up to twelve cards and hold twenty-five slips of cash. I am a bit doubtful of it being able to hold that much cash.

This is made in North Carolina in the USA and made from aircraft grade aluminum and carbon fiber. These designs are very unique and have several layers that work with it.

On the back, there’s an insert piece which screws to the main platform, that insert piece is what provides the base for the magnetic cash clip. The main platform is where the hinge mounts are located. The front piece which moves with the hinge has the bands attached to it with the other end of the bands attached to the base of the main platform by another metal bar secured by screws.

I think this is a reasonable price considering the time it would take to assemble one of these because of all the screws amd different pieces involved. There are several ways you can utilize this, as well as the side gaps to hold cards and move them around. The preferred way is with one hand to lay it in your palm, using your middle finger to hold the top in the notch, secured at the bottom by your palm with your thumb pushing on the bottom of the top piece which then frees the hinge tension, thus opening up for card extraction and insertion. Very easy to do.

It measures 3.6 x 2.3 x 0.4” and weighs 61 grams.

My perception on this is that it’s well constructed ad smooth to the touch with no sharp corners, and it certainly has a great look to it. They also have a titanium F22 version that is a little brighter, and a bit of a design difference and represents the F22 fighter jet.

As for the final score. For quality a 5. Price a 3. Features a 3. Usability a 2 and perception a 4. That gives us a final score of 3.6 out of 5.
