DJI Mini 3 Pro D-Cinelike footage supported?
Mon Aug 22, 2022 2:53 am
When I switch my DJI Mini 3 Pro to D-Cinelike, I cannot import the files into Resolve 18 (free version). Using the import method or drag & drop, the files simply don't appear - no error messages. Footage filmed in DJI normal mode work fine.
Am I correct in thinking 10-bit files are only supported in Studio version?
The Black Magic supported codec list says H.264 MPEG videos are supported. Some other formats say "Studio only" but that does not seem to be the case here. I believe I have looked up the correct category for DJI files.
OS: Windows 10

On Windows you'll need Studio. They import fine on Mac with DR free.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.
Studio 18.6.6, MacOS 13.6.7, 2017 iMac, 32 GB, Radeon Pro 580
MacBook M1 Pro, 16 GPU cores, 32 GB RAM
Sonoma 14.5 with 19b3 (sandbox)
SE, UltraStudio Monitor G3

Can you post a test file to a transfer service?

The Supported Codec Document is incorrect, I have ticket BXU-560-89721 open to fix it.
Resolve free on Windows does not support decode of h265 10 bit.
3 options;
1 Use a Mac.
2 Buy Studio. $300
3 Transcode to DNxHR HQX with Shutter Encoder (free)

Hey ZRGARDNE,
Is there a reason that the d-cinelike format is supported on Mac but not Windows, except for the Studio version? Bit of a bummer that the free version isn't the same across the board.
Is there a plan to make this a part of the free version for Windows? Thanks!

I never heard a reason why Black Magic chose to include 10 bit support in Mac. Windows excluding it presumably a marketing choice to encourage purchase of paid Studio version.
If MPEG charged more for h.264/5 10 bit than they do 8 bit, I could see them leaving it out as well. The cost of AAC is why it is not included in either free or paid on Linux.

I have a paid version and cannot use DJI Dlog-M footage. I have to convert it before Da Vinci will see it.

That must be a different issue. Can you post a sample to a cloud service?
